US-listed Bitcoin-etfs/">spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds recorded $643 million in net withdrawals on Friday, pushing their October flows into negative territory as cryptocurrency markets faced increased volatility following the reported Binance-security-breach/">.3 billion Binance hack.
The withdrawals ended four consecutive sessions of inflows and left the Bitcoin funds with $515 million in net outflows for October, according to SoSoValue. It was their first negative month since June. Despite the monthly decline, the funds still recorded approximately $361 million in net inflows for the year through October.
BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust, known as IBIT, registered the largest outflow on Friday at $234 million. Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund followed with $201 million, based on data from Farside Investors.
The withdrawals came after Bitcoin fell to $77,000 on Thursday. Binance confirmed on Friday that hackers had stolen approximately $6.3 billion in crypto assets.
Yishi, founder and CEO of hardware wallet maker OneKey, warned on X that IBIT could face similar security risks because it relies heavily on Coinbase for Bitcoin custody.
US spot Ether ETFs also experienced withdrawals, losing $156 million on Friday. Their total October outflows reached a record $1.61 billion, surpassing the previous monthly high of $1.42 billion recorded in November 2025.
The October withdrawals also wiped out the Ether funds’ net inflows for 2026, leaving them with approximately $45 million in net outflows for the year.
